Spring into Action!
We trust you're basking in the sunshine, whether it's amidst the vibrant energy of Chicago or on a tranquil spring break getaway. As March heralds Women’s History Month and April dawns upon us with Earth Month, we're reminded of the significance of these occasions. Yet, against the backdrop of the warmest February on record, attributed to Climate Change, we confront the undeniable challenges our planet faces. Delve deeper below on some ways to address these issues, highlighted by TWO NIC in-person events that beckon your participation.

NET IMPACT CHICAGO EVENTS

Join Net Impact Chicago volunteers and Friends of the Parks on the morning of Saturday April 20, 9am - 12pm CT, for a fun outdoor park clean-up effort and coffee chat afterwards!
What: Park Clean-up as part of Earth Week/ Day efforts by Friends of the Parks and the Chicago Park District
When: Saturday, April 20, from 9am -12 pm Central Time. Rain or Shine!
Where: Joseph Higgins SMITH Park, West Town area of Chicago, IL, 60612. The park's nominal address is 2526 W. Grand Avenue, but volunteers are to meet at park's Northeast corner, at Huron and Campbell streets at 9 AM). This park is in the West Side and near Grand (65) and Western (49) bus routes and the Western Metra station. Parking may be available. More location info here.
Upon site arrival, look for the Net Impact Volunteer with a blue Net Impact logo button and/or green bag. For general questions, please contact Site Volunteer Captain Fiona Montie via info@netimpactchicago.org .
Cost: No Cost. Bring your own bag and work gloves if you do not RSVP by the deadline. Dress appropriately for the task and weather. Coffee afterwards is on your own.

Housing as a Human Right: Building Alternative Futures

Join UIC's Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy and the National Public Housing Museum to explore how people are building collective futures by reimagining the value of housing not as a commodity for individual profit but as a collective right to struggle for.
