Join us on April 13 as for a panel about the state of this intriguing plant in Illinois and throughout the nation.

Three practitioners and entrepreneurs focused on cannabis-related issues will be on hand to share their experiences with us: Dina Rollman, Founder of Illinois Women in Cannabis and founding partner of Rollman & Dahlin LLP, Kurt Akers, CEO and Co-Founder of Kannatopia, and Joel Riff, Founder and CEO of Northern Exposure Global Innovations.

With new medical uses for cannabis coming to light, along with efforts to legalize or at least decriminalize the drug in several states, the impact and future of marijuana deserve serious consideration. What better time to focus on this topic than in the week leading up to 4/20?

Coalition:Impact will be hosting this event in their co-working space. Beer, wine, and other refreshments will be served.

PANELISTS

Dina Rollman is a founding partner of Rollman & Dahlin LLP, where she specializes in counseling businesses and investors so that they understand the legal framework of the cannabis laws that impact them and how to operate within that framework. Prior to founding her firm, Dina was a commercial litigation partner at Sperling & Slater, P.C., representing plaintiffs and defendants in business disputes throughout the country.

Dina is also the co-founder of Illinois Women in Cannabis, a non-profit networking group that promotes women’s role in Illinois’s medical cannabis industry. She is on the board of the Illinois Cannabis Industry Association, the leading trade organization for medical cannabis in Illinois, and is a founding member of the Illinois Cannabis Bar Association. Dina has lectured widely on cannabis topics, addressing national trade conferences, presenting at legal seminars, and participating in Chicago Ideas Week.

Kurt Akers is the co-founder and CEO of Kannatopia, a social network for modern cannabis consumers aged 21 and older. Kannatopia aims to “Connect the Cannabis World” while reducing the social stigmas and stereotypes that exist around cannabis. The organization works out of Chicago’s premier tech incubator, 1871. Kurt is also a co-organizer of CannaTech Chicago, a monthly meetup bringing together people interested in cannabis and technology in Illinois. Prior to starting Kannatopia, Kurt attended graduate school in England. He is a lifelong Chicagoland native.
